besto pesto

You can’t really tell, but this is a GIANT bowl of GIANT basil.

Why the leaves got so enormous, I haven’t a clue. I don’t fertilize though I do dig in a bit of compost. I planted the seedlings kind of late actually, and I was cranky because of the heat and so I more or less just shoved them into the soil rather unceremoniously.

You’d think they’d be annoyed. Or at the very least severely damaged with jammed up roots and hurt feelings.

But no, they’re growing like mad, bless their determined little hearts.

And so how do I thank them?

If it wasn’t so delicious it’d be sad…
