radishes in winter

Purchased from a hydroponic/greenhouse grower at the Peterborough Farmers’ Market who also does white radish, black radish, tender leeks, multi-coloured baby carrots, greens, and a few things I’m forgetting. And he grows it all winter. Fresh food, all winter… Not off a plane. Not irradiated. Not from anywhere but here!

I’ll admit that radishes grown outdoors in summer sunshine have more flavour but these were a treat on a cold day and would be pretty in a salad. (Also a very good reason to throw a colour-themed dinner party…)
